People hate other people, and it makes no sense to me. Sometimes I think that we like to hate each other for no reason, like its pre-programmed in our brains. But I know that this is not true. For all the years I've lived, almost every one I've started out hating, I eventually grew fond of, either because it challenged me, or simple because it was some kind of misunderstanding. I guess I'm empathtic, but I think all people are, and I therefore think that people must convince themselves to hate others, hence the "family values", the supposed core of our entire cultural idea of right and wrong. But Seneca said it best; Bonitas non est pessimis esse meliorem - It is not goodness to be better than the worst.
I agree it seems to be a programmed thing in the human brain, but I also think it could be changed over time. We've made some progress, but also some steps back, but I think ever civil rights action has had ups and downs.
I really believe that humankind can step up and be at least sincerely tolerant of gays.

I've read a book that insists that "secular humanism", which boils down to: tolerence of gays, is going to allow pedofiles to go unprosicuted, terrorist go free, and generally destroy American culture, and therefore world civilization. This kind of hyperbole is insane. The people (the greeks) who invented democracy, logic, mathamatics, philosophy openly allowed homosexual relations, and they did perfectly well. The Romans were the worlds first superpower, and they also inhereted the greeks homosexual tendancies without civilization falling apart.
But the most unfortunate part, is that these hate mongers hide behind patriotism, and use it as an excuse to further harmful goals. O'riely makes statements like "I will always support American soldiers"... thats fine and dandy to make as a claim (as to seem rightous), but really it means nothing.

This newsletter was "born" back in March 2007, from a conversation between ~Lareth and =FrozenStarRo, who with the help of their friends *Iardacil and =Sylwiaa , wanted to make something to promote known and unknown photomanipulators alike here on DeviantArt. As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same. As of recent, the talented =Behana has joined us in bringing you this weekly newsletter and we are excited to have her on board. This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
